INTRODUCTION
GERRY JOE WEISE uses different mediums from: painting to sculpture, music to performance, and video to photography. The "NATURE-NATURE" 2005 series is based on his "NEW-NATURE" Photography taken from his "NEW-NATURE / NEW REALITIES" concept. These photographs were taken in Southern France, using old-school techniques. The same techniques were used for the "ECO-LOST" 2005 series, a bold statement on today's ecological problems. The "PSYCHO-NATURE" 2006 series was done using digital computer effects, to express his concerns with contemporary nature, the Earth, and sociological problems.

NEW-NATURE
NATURE versus GRAVITY
by Morton Fielding
The New-Nature series commenced with the introduction of dissonant forms of landscape photography in the South of France. The gradual deformations of images juxtaposed to form pictures no longer controlled by Earth's gravity, sometimes creating a central void, where the viewer is drawn into the image, sometimes turning the viewer upon his head. The exclusion of the human figure where all presence is evacuated, the viewer feels like an outsider in front of the image, as if nature has left mankind out; is a specific intention created by Gerry Joe Weise in what he calls the "New-Nature" series.
The most significant characteristic of Weise's photography, is its anti-gravitational aspect, its overwhelming scale in thickness of vegetation, where as silence and cacophony simultaneously carve through the dense air. An instant of bafflement ? Gerry Joe Weise doesn't encourage the viewer to comprehend contemporary nature photography at first glance. Nature versus gravity !

Gerry Joe Weise's more external approach juxtaposed with Space and / or Movement, is enticed by Energy / Creation, and more fundamentally, is guiding his artistic research through guidelines set up in response to them, rather than following 'trendy' patterns.

NEW-REALITIES

INTRODUCTION
These "Experimental Digital Photographic Art Collages" are a combination of old-school collage techniques juxtaposed with new-school digital photographic montage computer soft-ware manipulations. A great variety of images can be obtained that exceeds largely the quantity and differences obtained by ancient paste & paint collage skills; but they do not replace older styles - they just coincide with. These Digital Art Collages are based on the "New-Realities" theory series.

DIGITAL COLLAGES
The Artist's Statement
26 April 2006 by Gerry Joe Weise

The Digital Collages from the "New-Realities" use a variety of techniques from the "old-school" montage superimposing to "new-school" computer manipulation of the final image. Landscapes can be looked at from a 2 dimensional to a 3 dimensional view. The "New-Realities" theme is trying to obtain a 4th dimensional aspect, the "inner-soul" of the landscape. Some of the works can be looked at by tipping the image around to its side or by standing-it-up upside down. Other works can be looked at from a topographical view, as if the viewer was airborne. I have always respected collage artwork from Modern Art to Contemporary Art, and while creating these works has been a natural on-going process of great passion and desire, it seems I can finally express myself about nature as a whole. One must note that animals and humans do not appear within these landscapes : earth, water, air and vegetation, overwhelm any chance of an animal form making an appearance, and humans seem to be the intruders. Air has a way of being represented in different densities, different colors : yes air has color and form. Minerals give earth different flavors and odors, water creates division and distance, while vegetation creates time and space. It is impossible to escape nature walled up in a city, and do we have to drown out earthly sounds with our mechanics ? Utopia is for amateurs, the sublime is for the unfit, and to hell with political realism on this planet !

NIGHTSCAPES

A PANORAMA OF NIGHTLY DELIGHTS
by Jan Rubin
A native of Sydney, Gerry Joe Weise moved to Europe in1980, at the age of 20. In the late 80s, through his friendship with Jean-Marie Le Sidaner (international French poet), he was invited to poet meetings, happenings, performances, and the Rimbaud Poetry Festival in France.
His poetic "Nightscapes" taken from the "New-Nature / New-Realities", are a new private cosmos that opens up before us in a view, a panorama of nightly delights, under pressure from mortal life on a gravity-bound planet; but still offers an escape. Gerry Joe Weise is dedicated to close observation of nature and detail. He revisits themes such as mountains, plains, trees, water and skies. Weise scans photographic collages of landscape images and digitally manipulates them on his computer. These dark saturated black & white / color photos are riveting and breathtaking.

NIGHTSCAPES
The Artist's Statement
26 April 2006 by Gerry Joe Weise
From the dense and the dark passages found in nocturnal landscapes, one is in waiting. Waiting for the next consequence to happen. Hearing all silence, deafened by the vast spaces becoming claustrophobic, we shall not be the same again. Art has a very long history of evening, nightly, and after dusk works. Creating a mood and pleasure in representing obscurities, and awkward sentiments. These are precisely those moments I have learned to cherish from Prehistoric to Ancient to Modern to Contemporary Artwork. The "Nightscapes" theme I feel, has to have panoramic measurements, to create tension against claustrophobia : a sort of resting against restlessness. Therefore the contradiction is exposed, and we can savor the delicate balance between a panorama wide-open and a small stuffy space. Air has definitely color here ! The "Nightscapes" series use a combination of techniques I used for the "New-Nature" photographs and the "New-Realities" collages, and in doing so, hoping to create nocturnal moods unexploited in the color schemes I used beforehand.

INTRODUCTION
Gerry Joe Weise has been using many different skills for his installations. His favorite has been colored pigments on natural earth, spread out in a large circle, usually 5 meters in radius. These Earth Installations have often been created at show-openings (vernisages). Other skills Gerry Joe Weise has used are acrylic and/or oil paint on bark, wood, metal, plastic, carpet, slate, stone, etc... as well as music, photography, video, sculpture, writing, and performance.

Gerry Joe Weise is interested in the dimension of life that surpasses traditional urban life !

NEW REALITIES
by Gerry Joe Weise
"NEW REALITIES", for which these works have been based upon, are a departure from the common concerns of today. In that they are not concerned with, and go beyond the immediate surroundings of which we inhabit. The representation of symbolical forms are partially stated. In actuality, they are only impressions, as the human mind always compares to what is already familiar. These are not what they may seem to be! The symbolical ideas are assigned to act out our feelings from the subconscious, our inner selves, even though they transcend the heavens and are beyond a million light years away. Our world is not their world, yet theirs is ours. Their music and language are of a transcendental character; it could be said a priori knowledge and experience. The works therefore have no link to existing history, even though a reference in the titles may lead to imply. In this case it is likened to our Moon, which carries earthly titles upon the lunar surface, a satellite that has been in existence long before the memory of man.

GERRY JOE WEISE POETRY
http://gerryjoeweisepoetry.blogspot.com/

INTRODUCTION
GERRY JOE WEISE, has been writing contemporary poetry, ever since the very early 1980s, just after leaving Australia and moving to Germany, where he lived in Munich and Frankfurt am Main. His poetry, verses, and thoughts, underlie his interests in the Universe and the Cosmos, mixed with everyday feelings... Earthly feelings. He delves in the senses, time & space, painting techniques, song-writing, musical themes, nature, ecology, abstract issues, among others. In Rheims and Chaerleville-Mezieres in France, he was part of the Poetic Artistic Movement, and the Rimbaud Poetry Festival in the Champagne-Ardennes, where he got caught up in many performances, musical experiments, and painting, with many French poets (and some Australian poets - Weise's guests) in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The most famous among them being the internationally known Jean-Marie Le Sidaner (now deceased) - who Weise had completed many artistic projects with. As well as illustrations for the world famous Michel Butor. Always experimenting with words and verses, Gerry Joe Weise has always come back to contemporary poetry in some form or other.
